Isabella Bird Community School

Spanish Program

Isabella Bird students attend Spanish class three times a week. Our Spanish program is a rarity in Denver Public Schools and the program was developed by our current Spanish educators. The program is designed to build verbal and written communication throughout the six years of study at school. Our goal is to have students that are able to go to middle school at least a year ahead of other students in similar Spanish programs. Our Spanish curriculum also includes curriculum for students to learn about Spanish speaking countries and culture.

Our Spanish teachers have spent extensive time in Spanish speaking countries and are dedicated to immersion practices. In every Spanish class, students are spoken to and respond in Spanish. Additionally, in every Spanish class, students are exposed to culture and nuances associated with the language. They also have a lot of fun.
