J.D. is our new 5th Grade teacher. He has been teaching for fourteen years with the last twelve in Denver Public Schools. Prior to becoming a teacher, he worked as a paraprofessional in DPS for three years. J.D received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State College of Denver. He also obtained a Master’s degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University. Mr. Yates is an Air Force veteran and has lived in Michigan, Arizona, and Ohio as well as Colorado. He is very excited to join the vibrant community here at Izzi B and cannot wait to meet all of the staff, students and families in our school. J.D. loves skiing, golf, and most recently pickleball.
