Protocol for a Positive COVID-19 Case

• If a student tests positive, contact our school nurse, Britney Kanan at britney_kanan@dpsk12.net
• We contact the COVID hotline with students/staff positive case
• Quarantine is only for close contacts who are not exempt from quarantine.
  • Outdoor exposures: There will be no quarantines or contact tracing unless directed by the health department.
• Close contacts in the school setting are defined as: Children who were within 3 feet (adults 6 feet) of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period.

Exemptions from quarantines:

1. Fully vaccinated (two weeks after last recommended vaccine dose) OR
2. Previously positive in the past 90 days OR
3. Both parties wearing a mask properly over the mouth and nose at the time of exposure
4. There will be no quarantine for outdoor exposure unless directed by the health department
