I am both honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve the Isabella Bird Community as our Principal. Throughout my educational career, I’ve worn many hats as I served in the role of special education teacher, general education teacher, intervention teacher, behavior specialist, gifted and talented teacher, teacher leader, and assistant principal. As a values based educator and leader, I maintain a strong belief that we can co-create a new path forward for kids by utilizing creativity, innovation and thinking critically about our educational system and how it does or does not meet the needs of all learners. I remain a passionate advocate for academic excellence and equity. This involves a commitment to dismantle systems and mindsets that lead to inequitable access and opportunity for kids. I’m humbled by the opportunity to serve our teachers, students and the community by empowering and uplifting others and unearthing the brilliance our students bring to their learning. My beliefs lie in ensuring the academic success of all of our children – elevating the learning capacity of our students by developing their habits of mind and cognitive skills to become lifelong independent learners. Outside of school, my passions include mathematics, playing the piano, kickboxing, attending concerts, reading, jigsaw puzzles, traveling and exploring the beauty of Colorado with my family including my husband Michael and our two children Zachary (16) and Zoey (14), who inspire me each and every day.
