Val is thrilled to be a teacher at Izzi B! She has been a teacher for 28 years. It began with balanced teaching practice at Knapp, thinking strategies at Slavens, coaching literacy at Cole, and authentic/relevant learning at Bill Roberts. She has been at Izzi B for 6 years. Val has worked with students from ECE to 12th grade, taught drama, and facilitated learning amongst colleagues. She looks forward to providing meaningful learning experiences each year.
Val is blessed with a wonderful husband and two remarkable kids. Izzie is graduating college at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and planning to travel the world for a year. Benji is graduating from Northfield High School and heading to college. Her husband, Brian, is an architect and a Denver native. They have two golden retrievers named Auggie and Reggie. They love movies, reading, playing lacrosse and going to the park. Val’s mother is from Thailand and her father was in the military, so she is well-traveled and has a love of other countries.
Val is inspired to teach because children are imaginative and unique. They bring humor and electricity to learning!
