Andrea is so excited to be a part of the Izzi B team this year to support literacy! Her son, Brady, is also an Izzi B Dragon in kindergarten. The 2023-24 school year is Andrea’s 15th year with Denver Public Schools. She has spent the past 6 years as an Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing supporting Far Northeast schools. Prior to her itinerant role, she was a teacher in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing center-based program at Carson Elementary and prior to that, she taught second grade in Florida. Andrea is finishing up a certificate in Structured Literacy in December and has Master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education-Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist.
Outside of the classroom, you’ll usually find Andrea doing some type of exercise or walking her rescue mutt, Sheba. Movement is her stress reliever! She also loves checking out new playgrounds with her son (Twin Silos Park in Fort Collins is amazing). The beach is her happy place and fortunately, she gets to spend lots of time there in North Carolina over the summer visiting family.
Andrea is looking forward to getting to know everyone as both a staff member and parent this school year!
