Emily Garrido is so happy to be joining the Izzi B community. She is from Atlanta and spent eleven years teaching in the Metro Atlanta area. She taught kindergarten, first, and third grade.
She then relocated to Iowa for a year where she taught first grade. Emily and her husband, Jovanni, are both teachers and have always wanted to live in Denver, so this year we decided to take the plunge and make the move the rest of the way across the country. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Kennesaw State University and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education focusing on Teacher Support and Coaching in Elementary Mathematics from Georgia State University. She is passionate about education and feels strongly that school is a place for students to feel cared for and safe to learn. Building relationships with students and families is a top priority and she is excited for the opportunity to do that at Isabella Bird next year.
