Jodie completed her undergrad program during the 2020 pandemic. Her course work in Behavioral Neuroscience, Anatomy and Physiology, Human Development, and Sensory Perception gave her the knowledge to support her children’s education during those difficult times.
As a one-on-one Special Education Para, she provides scaffolding for students to learn new concepts and step back when they become independent. Part of making education cognitively accessible is by making it fun. When the first graders needed a reminder to wash their hands and use the vampire method to cover their coughs, she brought her plush COVID-19 virus, and they played Hot Potato with it. Although her approach to teaching can be silly at times, she is passionate about watching students develop a love of learning.
