At IBCS we recognize the key ingredient in student engagement and success is having highly qualified teachers in every classroom. We employ teachers who are passionate about equity and social justice, who build strong relationships with their students, and use their knowledge of student interests, strengths, and backgrounds to support students toward academic excellence. Hiring, developing, and retaining high-quality teachers who are aligned with our school’s mission and vision is essential to our ultimate success. We seek teachers that are passionate and committed to academic excellence for all children and recognize that education has become the social justice issue of our time. Therefore, we strive to hire teachers who share a passion for social justice and know that high academic expectations for all students is a path toward disbanding the inequities that continue to plague our society. We specifically seek teachers who have experience working with special education students, gifted and talented students, and a diverse population. Priority will also be given to teachers with Understanding by Design curriculum development experience and
teachers who have a proven track record of high academic growth and achievement for their students. Finally, recognizing that teacher leadership is a cornerstone of our school, we seek teachers that have a collaborative mindset, a desire and ability to work closely with other teachers, and an interest in developing leadership skills and taking on future leadership roles and responsibilities.
